Dr. Stephen Fernez Ed.D is a twenty-year law enforcement professional, Florida Institue of Technology adjunct professor, and former Barry University adjunct professor where he taught for five years.
In 2011 he co-founded LEOSA with Brandon Gish and Troy Deavers which operated as a drug awareness and surfing 501c3 until 2019. In 2016 he worked with TJ McMahon to bring the first AFGL certified FootGolf course to Brevard County at Mallards Landing Golf Course. In 2018, he created and began co-hosting the Black Dog Confessional Podcast with Chris Cardinal. In 2020, he produced the substance abuse and mental health documentary film Coming Clean which was selected for thirteen film festivals throughout the United States. In 2021, he and his wife, Maria, opened Carabella Spa and Wellness studio with offers self-care and beauty services as well as donation-based yoga sessions and local vendor pop-up events. Stephen has a long history of community service, from 2013 to 2018 he served as a committee member for the Brevard County Public Safety Charity. From 2012 to 2018 he was the Captain of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office St. Baldrick's Foundation team which benefitted children's cancer research. From 2011 to 2013 he was the Captain for the south precinct corporate dodgeball team which benefitted the Boy Scouts of America. In 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2022 he was the Captain for the No Bad Days Kickball Tournament which benefitted children with special needs. In 2018, he was a participant in the Children's Advocacy Center Bond Fundraiser. In 2021, he became a board member for LEAD Brevard (current) and a curriculum committee member (ended 2023) for LEAD Brevard. He actively supports Elves for the Elderly, Relay for Life, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics, and United Way Brevard, and Charity: Water.
